In January 2016, JN by Jiuan Ng launched its debut ready-to-wear collection Redefining Classics, inspired by classic everyday silhouettes with an unexpected twist. Jiuan Ng is the namesake main line where focus is placed on luxury ready-to-wear on a pre-order basis. Jiuan Ng officially launched during Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week in August 2017 with the grand debut of their SS18 collection, Grandeur. Inspired by geological wonders full of vivid colors, unpredictable shapes and monumental texture, Grandeur offers a fresh design perspective coupled with quality fabric and sartorial tailoring. The Jiuan Ng woman is soft and successful, a traditionalist and rebel, a lover and a fighter, vulnerable and invincible. The Jiuan Ng woman is confident being whoever she wants to be.
Prior to 2010, designer Shuh Jiuan Ng was a trained computer engineer. She graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with Bachelor of Computer Engineering in 2005 and Master of Computer Engineering (part-time basis) in 2009 and has worked with multinational semiconductor company in Penang for 4 years.
Ng moved to New York City in 2010 to pursue fashion design in Parsons The New School for Design. She graduated with honors in AAS (Associate of Applied Sciences) Fashion Design in mid 2011 and has taken courses in garment draping, pattern making, sewing, tailoring and accessories design. During her stint in New York City, she has done internship and freelance work with renowned Malaysian fashion designer Zang Toi from 2010 - 2012. She also worked briefly as fabric & design assistant for womenswear company based in New York called Worth before moving to Florida with her spouse in early 2013.
In September 2013, Ng was selected as one of the 5 finalists for Made for Peroni Young Designer’s Award representing Miami and was flown to New York City to present her illustrated Italian themed collection. Ng found out about her pregnancy at the same time and decided to take a break from fashion to focus on being a new mother. With a young baby in tow, Ng and her spouse moved back to Kuala Lumpur in October 2014. 2016 marks Ng’s comeback to fashion and the launch of her fashion line JN by JIUAN NG.
